Elche achieved a thrilling 3-2 victory over their guest Atletico Madrid, in the 33rd round of the Spanish League.
Atletico Madrid opened the scoring early through Nicolas Gonzalez in the 10th minute, before David Avengruber equalized for Elche in the 18th minute.
Atletico suffered a major blow when their player Thiago Almada was sent off in the 30th minute, and then conceded a second goal through Andre Silva in the 33rd minute from a penalty kick.
But Nicolas Gonzalez quickly equalized for Atletico in the 34th minute.
Andre Silva succeeded in giving Elche the victory over coach Diego Simeone's team, by scoring the third goal for his team in the 75th minute.
With this win, Elche moved out of the danger zone after raising their tally to 35 points in 15th place, while Atletico Madrid's tally remained frozen at 57 points in fourth place.
