Axios: The United States has proposed to Iran a 20-year halt to uranium enrichment.

The United States proposed to Iran that it accept a 20-year moratorium on uranium enrichment during negotiations held in Islamabad over the weekend, according to Axios, citing a US official and a source familiar with the matter.

The US official added that the United States has asked Iran to remove all highly enriched uranium from the country.

He noted that Iran offered a controlled, diluted mixing process for highly enriched uranium instead of removing it from the country.

The US official said that Iran believed it was close to a preliminary agreement in Islamabad, noting that there was ongoing communication between the United States and Iran and progress in trying to reach an agreement.
