On Wednesday, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah visited Saham Al-Kafarat in Irbid, and met with a group of young men and women and shared a walking tour with them along one of the natural trails in the area overlooking the Yarmouk River.
Her Majesty met with a number of the region’s residents who have initiatives, and listened to an explanation about the “Khayrat Saham” project, which aims to highlight the agricultural and traditional heritage, and to enable farmers and families to market their products such as olive oil, pomegranates, guavas and rural foods.
A group of tourism activists also spoke about their experience in documenting and promoting natural tourist sites, and pointed to the importance of community and individual initiatives and efforts in highlighting the beauty of nature in northern Jordan, especially given its diverse natural trails and tourist activities.
This visit follows previous visits by Her Majesty the Queen aimed at supporting the promotion of local tourism, the most recent of which was to Wadi Rum to highlight the Kingdom's diverse tourism offerings.
