After his release, Maan Abdul Haq reveals details of his arrest and addresses a message to the Sharia.

Syrian artist Maan Abdel Haq broke his silence after being released by the Syrian authorities, explaining that his arrest was due to a fight with someone in a public place, and not because of his political stances against the former Syrian regime, as he confirmed in statements to local media.

Abdul Haq said that the Syrian General Security’s treatment of him was “respectful and more than wonderful,” noting that the treatment he received is what he hopes for all Syrians in the coming period, in a statement reflecting his desire to reassure public opinion after the controversy that accompanied his arrest.

In a related context, the Syrian artist confirmed that he had hated former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad throughout his life, explaining that a number of Syrian artists had been forced in previous periods to appear in the media and offer words of praise for the regime for fear of their lives, as he put it.

Abdul Haq revealed that he kept the Syrian flag inside a closet in his house, noting his participation in three demonstrations against the former regime, and confirming that he lived for a long time under the threat of arrest and in a constant state of fear.

Abdul Haq addressed a message to Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, in which he praised what he described as his generosity, noble morals, and keenness to preserve the homeland and the Syrian people, stressing that he would give him his vote if future presidential elections were held in the country.

These statements come two days after the Syrian artist spent in detention in Damascus, following a fight that broke out between him and someone in a public place, according to Syrian media reports.

Abdel-Haq’s statements deny the rumors that were circulated on social media platforms following his arrest, which said that his arrest came as a result of his positions supporting the former regime and his repeated criticism of some opposition artists, positions that made him a divisive figure among followers, and contributed to the wide interaction with the news of his arrest on social media.
