Amman Chamber of Commerce discusses with the Czech Ambassador ways to enhance trade exchange and build quality partnerships.

During a visit by the Czech Republic’s accredited ambassador to the Kingdom, Andrea Kucherova, to the Chamber’s headquarters on Monday, the Chairman of the Amman Chamber of Commerce, Senator Khalil Al-Haj Tawfiq, stressed the importance of strengthening trade and investment cooperation between Jordan and the Czech Republic, and developing the partnership between the private sector in the two countries.
According to a statement issued by the Chamber, the meeting, which was attended by the Chamber’s Vice Presidents Nabil Al-Khatib and Bahjat Hamdan and Board Member Falah Al-Saghir, discussed mechanisms for activating economic relations and opening wider channels of communication between the business communities, in order to enhance trade exchange and encourage joint investments.
Hajj Tawfiq pointed to the importance of the participation of Czech companies and businessmen in the Jordanian-European Investment Conference scheduled to be held at the end of this year, as it is an economic platform to promote partnerships and build direct cooperation relations between Jordanian companies and their European counterparts.
The Chamber emphasized its commitment to organizing bilateral business meetings and sectoral meetings, in addition to exchanging trade delegations, which will enhance direct communication between the business communities in Jordan and the Czech Republic, especially through coordination with the Chamber’s counterparts in the Czech Republic.
He explained that economic relations between the two countries extend over several decades and are supported by cooperation agreements with Czech economic institutions, which reflects the strength of institutional relations. However, the volume of trade exchange is still below the level of ambitions, despite the existence of promising opportunities in the sectors of information technology, cybersecurity, tourism, agriculture, and logistics.
Hajj Tawfiq stressed the importance of each side enhancing its knowledge of the other's products and competitive advantages, noting that expanding the information base of the business communities regarding available goods and services contributes to increasing trade and building sustainable economic partnerships.
For her part, Ambassador Kocherova affirmed her country's interest in developing economic relations with Jordan, emphasizing the depth of political ties between the two countries and the importance of this being reflected in the level of economic cooperation. She noted that Jordan enjoys a safe and stable environment that encourages investment.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Deputy Head of Mission and Head of the Economic and Trade Section, Tereza Valachekova, she pointed to the importance of strengthening bilateral economic relations through activating bilateral agreements, exchanging trade delegations, and organizing joint exhibitions, stressing the Czech companies’ keenness to explore the investment opportunities available in the Jordanian market.
She also indicated that the Czech side will participate in a number of upcoming economic events, including the SOFEX exhibition and an energy conference, in addition to the importance of strengthening cooperation in the tourism sector, and holding periodic meetings via video communication technologies (Zoom) between those concerned in the two countries.
The members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors present stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation in the tourism sector between Jordan and the Czech Republic, emphasizing the need to intensify coordination between the relevant authorities in the two countries by holding periodic meetings via video communication technologies (Zoom), which contributes to the exchange of information, joint promotion and the revitalization of mutual tourism.
They also emphasized the importance of transforming challenges into real opportunities for cooperation by activating existing memoranda of understanding, organizing joint exhibitions, and exchanging trade delegations, thereby enhancing direct communication between the business communities and paving the way for sustainable economic and investment partnerships across various sectors.
