US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the US-Israeli war on Iran could end and the Strait of Hormuz could be reopened if Tehran adheres to what has been agreed upon.
He added in a post on his Truth Social platform: “Assuming that Iran agrees to abide by what has been agreed upon, which is a big assumption, the legendary Epic of Wrath operation will indeed end, and the effective blockade will allow the Strait of Hormuz to be opened to everyone, including Iran.”
He added: “If you do not agree, the bombing will begin, and unfortunately it will be at a much higher level and intensity than before.”
On Wednesday morning, the US president announced the temporary suspension of the “freedom of navigation” project in the Strait of Hormuz, as part of efforts to allow for a final agreement with Iran.
Trump said in a post on Truth Social that the decision came “at the request of Pakistan and other countries,” referring to what he described as “great military success” during the campaign against Iran, in addition to making “great progress” towards a full and final agreement with Tehran’s representatives.
He explained that the suspension would be for a short period in order to test the possibility of completing and signing the agreement, while emphasizing that the embargo imposed on Iran “will remain in full force.”
He added that this step comes within a mutual understanding, without providing further details regarding the nature or duration of the anticipated agreement.
