Following Friday prayers today, a march organized by Jordanian parties and unions set off from in front of the Al-Husseini Mosque, affirming the firm and unwavering Jordanian position, both leadership and people, in defending the Hashemite custodianship over the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
This guardianship comes not only as a political stance, but as a historical and legal commitment to protect the holy city and preserve its holy sites, in light of the attempts to obliterate the Palestinian identity and impose a new reality.
The participants, representing all segments of Jordanian society, affirmed that Jordan, which has given and continues to give so much for the sake of Jerusalem, will not accept any harm to Al-Aqsa Mosque, and will not allow any measures aimed at Judaizing it or changing its Arab and Islamic character.
They stressed that participating in this march represents a national, professional and moral duty, and a clear message rejecting all policies and procedures targeting the Palestinian people and the repeated violations against Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The participants recalled the messages of His Majesty King Abdullah II in his recent meeting with the heads of Arab and foreign states, during which he affirmed that Jordan is steadfast in its positions regarding the Palestinian issue, and that the Hashemite custodianship of the holy sites in Jerusalem is a red line that cannot be compromised.
His Majesty stressed the rejection of any attempts to impose a new reality in Al-Aqsa Mosque, or to compromise the Arab and Islamic identity of Jerusalem, affirming that Jordan will continue its historical, political and diplomatic role in defending the holy sites and supporting the steadfastness of the Palestinian people.
The participants expressed their absolute support for His Majesty the King's positions, affirming their allegiance to the Hashemite leadership and Jordan's adherence to its firm and unwavering stances on the Palestinian cause, and the continued defense of Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites, in light of the honorable Jordanian positions that reflect the constants of the state and the conscience of the Arab and Islamic nation.
