Prince Ali: We are proud to have the Jordanian refereeing team at the 2026 World Cup

Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, President of the Executive Committee of the Jordan Football Association, expressed his pride in the presence of the Jordanian refereeing team among four Asian refereeing teams chosen by FIFA to participate in managing the matches of the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

His Highness said in a post on the “X” platform: “Wishing success to the Jordanian refereeing team participating in the World Cup finals.. We are proud to have the Jordanian team among 4 refereeing teams from the Asian continent.”

FIFA had selected the Jordanian international refereeing team, consisting of referee Adham Makhadmeh and assistant referees Ahmed Al-Ruwaili and Mohammed Al-Bakkar, to participate in managing the World Cup matches, after they passed a series of theoretical and practical tests organized by the International Federation within specific standards to ensure the readiness of the referees for the biggest football event in the world.

The selection of Al-Makhadmeh is a new achievement for Jordanian football, as he will be the first Jordanian referee to participate in the World Cup finals.

The first participation of Jordanian referees in the World Cup finals was through the late assistant referee Awni Hassouneh, who participated in the South Korea and Japan World Cup in 2002.
