Media Authority spokesman Omar al-Homsi confirmed on Wednesday that neither the Media Authority nor any government agency has sent text messages to content creators asking them to contact the Authority to pay sums of money.
Al-Homsi said that the authority has begun taking the necessary measures to track the source of these misleading messages in cooperation with the National Cyber Security Center and the Cyber Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department, in order to take the necessary legal measures.
He denied what some people have been circulating on social media, regarding the authority sending text messages to content creators asking them to contact the authority to pay sums of money.
